Getting to grips with well water – campo living

We are learning every day. I am quite a practical person and will have a go at most things diy. Less so these days as I’m not quite as flexible or keen to be crawling round floors or perching on ladders. Darren, on the other hand, is on a steep learning curve coming from a lifetime of office working. His soft lily white hands are not quite as soft as they were!

Last night our water kept going off. He checked the deposit tank, we are on well water, that seemed sufficient but the pump kept stopping. It’s old and we have got two new replacements that we’ve been holding off putting in until the pump room gets restructured this autumn.

Needs must and contractor came out today to switch them over. Turns out the old pump was still working but the pipe that sits in the deposit had floated to the top and the pump had insufficient suction to work, hence the spluttery water before cutting out.

Alls well that ends well, we are fully pumped up and now he knows how the pump system works and what to check off when needed.

October and we still need a fan in the day to cool down. It feels so airy and spacious with the walls down and the neutral palette am loving the minimal but will probably fill it up with bits and bats and bobs over time.

While all that was going on I’ve put together a Beef Stifado in my stock pot and now my kitchen smells like a village house in Greece. The rain has stopped, the sun is shining and I can now put my dishwasher on, another good day in paradise.

And I couldn’t resist this duck storage from a local segunda ma, I told you I would be filling it up with bits and bats!
