Wildfire and lunch
Wildfires to the north of us, looks quite close but way up past Xerta and Paul’s.

Meanwhile sitting on the shady terrace, Darren made his own lunch today spicy jalapeño crispy bites with tomato dip and a chorizo and halloumi jambalaya, the jambalaya was a preprepared jar from our local supermarket and he fried off the chorizo and halloumi from scratch so am hoping he clears up his own mess!

I made myself a much more conservative jacket spud with apple and crab mayo, simply a bag of shredded surimi (or shredded crab sticks) chopped apple and dollops of mayo, you can sub the surimi or crab sticks with prawns or tinned salmon or tuna. He favoured a crisp cold lime infused zero Corona whereas I went with old school water. Back in my fridge (big bedroom with the aircon) with a Lidl berry solero style lolly for my book and siesta time. Hopefully the fire will be out when I get up for my swim.

Edit: The wildfires got considerably worse. Many of our friends in the area were evacuated and we had our go bags packed and the cat baskets on standby. At one point the first evening we could see the red glow of the fire through the trees at the rear of our property. Thankfully over three days the fire services managed too put it out but not before it burnt a huge area of land encompassing the edge of many villages and major roads. Spain in general has had its worst year on record for wildfires some careless, some unascertained and some deliberate which is shocking in itself, All I would urge wherever you are take great care whether you are bbq’ing, smoking or using equipment that gets hot or creates sparks. Stay safe folks.
