Normal service is resumed

I do love the start of a new year, without the capitalisations, just a brand spanking new year. Fresh start. It’s like going to the stationers and browsing through all those unfilled books, a few of which are sitting on my desk, opening them up and seeing those pristine first pages just asking for ink to make it’s indelible mark. This first couple of weeks aren’t without a bit of celebration as it’s Mr Smith’s birthday on 13th so I get to wear as much of my new gear as I can in one day, this year am spoilt for choice, a silk Lagenlook dress and a cashmere mulberry scarf (see it in the moodboard below), will it be the new black pendant earings from my dear friend Nell or the steam punk watch part stud earrings from the birthday boy which he gave me for my birthday, yes the days are just three weeks apart so there’s a lot of gift going on.

Treated myself to some new woollies, I have the softest cashmere long cardi in a graphite grey and a chunky paler grey hooded big outsize number which features in today’s moodboard. I do love what I think of as stacking rings and bracelets. I had a lovely set of stretchy French bracelets. like tiny springs, I bought them in a shop in L’Escala, they looked not unlike the ring featured here. They used to catch on the hairs of my arms when I took them off but I loved them, over time they kinked and eventually I was down to just a half dozen, would love to replace them. Am also extremely taken with the black leather envelope bag, it is so minimal and lux.

We are off to a new (to us) restaurant for lunch no coat necessary, although it is winter forecast is for sun but I think boot weather. I am looking foward to the spring when I can break out the pumps and have a big thing at the moment for bows so am looking out for a new pair, the ones featured in my board are previous season Anthropologie but am sure a pair of something equally perfect will pop up on my searches. Love them with a crop trouser or capri. Have to say though I have some absolutely divine new ankle height trainers from Allbirds in graphite grey with white soles, another birthday gift. I already have a pair of pumps and they are the comfiest shoes ever. On the pricey side they are worth every penny. I am a big Skechers fan for style and comfort but these are next level.

Rest of this month am doing a big clearout of my wardrobes, ready for putting the house on the market, need to rationalise and pass on the things I no longer need/fit/fancy so will be posting them for sale on the local selling page here where I live and posting them on here will keep you posted.
