Tea anyone?

0aIt’s just the right time of year to be working indoors, the days are still long enough to have plenty of natural light and it’s going to be a sunny one today so I can look out on the world and feel cheery.

Not that it isn’t cheery in my studio today. This lovely big fat teapot is getting it’s winter warmer. Still toying with ideas and don’t want to overdo it. I see her as an elegant but practical lady, big enough to hold her own on the tea table and not need too much refilling but dressed in her Sunday best.0a1

I’m using a pale caramel polka dot cotton with panels of beaded lace and hand embroidered lettering. I haven’t quite decided whether I shall quilt this one you’ll have to wait and see. 0a2

Am very pleased with the lettering, not so easy on the polka dots but I used a simple running stitch and then wove the thread in and out of the stitches to create this piped effect. Am sure the stitch has a technical name but as an amateur suck it and see kind of seamstress I haven’t a clue. I do know I used a French knot for the I!0a3

I’ve also swapped tea pots, I felt the round pot deserved something, well, rounder (that will be tomorrows little project but suffice to say it will be very different indeed). This tea pot has a more queeny feel befitting of the embroidered lace with beading.0a4

Finished it off with running stitch embroidery around the bottom and a little tab to lift it on and off. Not to be outdone the back of the cosy has the lace as well so it looks regal from all aspects. As with my other creations teapots and their bespoke cosies will be for sale on my stall at the Christmas Fair in La Sala, Corca on 17 November.
